PC-based control technology for building automation
Modern control solutions in building automation
are based on the Industrial PC as
an open and powerful hardware platform.
At the command level, thousands of building
data points for measurement and
control have to be processed. Industrial PCs
from Beckhoff with the operating system
Windows 2000/XP and the TwinCAT automation
software are eminently suitable for
this purpose. Apart from the operation of
the complete control, as building or master
computers they take on all monitoring and
protocol functions. The Industrial PCs are the
hardware platform for data base, Web server,
facility management software and basis
for remote maintenance. They are equipped
with high-quality components and are available
in different designs for maintenance-friendly
operation at almost any location.
The Beckhoff Industrial PCs are either
equipped with their own TFT display, or
they can be connected in a variety of ways
to Beckhoff Control Panels which may be
located at a distance of up to 100 m. The I/O
level is connected via PC Fieldbus Cards or
on-board interfaces, such as Ethernet, RS232
or USB.
