PC-based control increases production effciency of machines

Beckhoff at Fensterbau Frontale 2018

Fensterbau Frontale 2018 successfully closed in Nuremberg, Germany on 24 March. With over 110,000 visitors and 1,329 exhibitors from 42 countries, the biennial trade show of window, door and facade construction once again confirmed its role as an international industry platform.

Besides security, design and comfort under the keyword "Smart Home", topics such as digitalisation, energy efficiency and sustainability of production were the key themes of this year's event. "Machine construction for the window and door industry has historically been one of our core industries at Beckhoff. With PC-based control technology, both individual machines and complete window production lines can be controlled and monitored. Our range of services extends from the supply of components to complete solutions, including control cabinet construction. Participation in Fensterbau Frontale trade show is therefore a "must" for Beckhoff. As an international industry meeting place, it offers us a platform to keep in touch with our long-standing customers – outside the day-to-day business – and to win new customers," explains Thomas Koslowsky, Sales Manager at Beckhoff.

With its highly integrated control solution and a wide range of developments for performance-scalable, space-saving components, Beckhoff supports machine construction for the window and door industry in minimising the footprint of systems and increasing production efficiency. "Our range of ultra-compact IPCs, which combine maximum performance with an extremely compact design, was well received.

The AMP8000 motor modules, which integrate the servo drive directly into the servomotor, also attracted much attention from visitors. This saves valuable mounting space in the control cabinet and reduces the cost of air conditioning," explains Frank Maasmeier, Beckhoff Systems Engineering Sales.

The PC-based control system with open interfaces in hardware and software and continuous communication, from the sensor to the cloud, also offers all the prerequisites for networked production, which improves flexibility, efficiency and competitiveness in the window and door industry.
