To address the needs of the rapidly growing automation and controls industry, Beckhoff Automation is seeking a highly qualified training engineer with a strong technical background and teaching experience. This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the fastest growing, technology leading companies in industrial automation. Training engineers are directly responsible for the development and delivery of training material for in-person, remote, and pre-recorded settings.


  • acquire and maintain a high level of technical knowledge around Beckhoff products and related industry technologies for the instructional support of our customers
  • develop training material for Beckhoff hardware and software solutions in the areas of programming, motion, safety, HMI, vision and more
  • instruct training classes either in-person or remote
    • classes for external customers or internal Beckhoff personnel
    • remote classes: use connectivity software and webcams to instruct on material
    • in-person classes: training facilities across the country (requiring regular travel)
  • create and maintain production-quality online training material that can be viewed by customers 24/7

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical field from a four year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • working knowledge/experience with general industrial automation hardware and software
  • programming proficiency in one or more languages
  • competency in the use of motion control software, products
  • experience with hands on mechanical or electrical project(s)
  • self-starter with a results driven personality
  • strong analytical and reasoning skills
  • ability to work in a high stress environment while maintaining professionalism
  • excellent written and oral communication skills with a passion for technical instruction in small or large groups

Desired Qualifications

  • proficiency programming with IEC 61131-3 languages
  • existing working knowledge of Beckhoff Automation hardware and software
  • programming proficiency in one more high level/IT programming languages
  • experience teaching technical topics to groups of 3 or more people
  • use of video and audio recording, editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Audacity, OBS
  • ‘Content authoring’ development experience using Articulate
  • design, development, and/or maintenance experience with machine safety and related standards
  • exposure, use of new industry technologies like MQTT, IoT, and Industry 4.0
