Beckhoff Automation Canada is currently seeking a full-time Mechatronics Developer to work out of the company’s Metro Vancouver office. We are a fast-growing automation and controls manufacturer, specializing in PC-based controls. The selected candidate will develop motion technology and other mechatronic systems. The candidate must have a proactive and positive attitude, be willing to take initiative, and be an excellent communicator. Candidates with strong programming proficiency and an excellent understanding of and aptitude for mechatronic systems are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • develop control and hardware-oriented algorithms and software for advanced motion systems
  • create, analyze and utilize models, simulations, and calculations for electromagnetic, dynamic, and other physical systems
  • test, debug, troubleshoot, and measure performance of motion systems and software
  • conceptualize, design and prototype new motion technologies
  • prepare documentation, reports, and presentations and participate constructively in meetings including code reviews
  • represent the organization in a professional, ethical and socially responsible manner

Qualifications

  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in relevant technical field, including engineering, physics, or mathematics
  • knowledge and understanding of mechatronics, electromagnetism, controls, dynamics, mathematics, and other magical arts
  • object oriented programming capabilities, including C++
  • mechatronics system implementation experience and good hands-on skills
  • literature review skills including research papers, patents, and technical reports
  • excellent written and oral communication skills in English with the ability to present at small or large meetings
  • self-starter with a results-driven personality
  • strong analytical and reasoning skills to collaborate in a fast-paced, action-oriented team
  • German language skills are a plus
