EL4xxx | EtherCAT Terminals, analog output

The EtherCAT Terminals from the EL4xxx, ES4xxx and ELX4xxx series output the most diverse analog signals. The standard signals typically encountered in the automation industry are supported, with the levels 0 to 10 V, ±10 V, 0 to 20 mA and 4 to 20 mA. EtherCAT Terminals with current outputs > 20 mA are assigned to the EL2xxx and EL7xxx product groups.

Due to different numbers of channels and resolutions, Beckhoff offers the right product for every application in the product portfolio of EtherCAT analog output terminals. There are also different product categories for some application areas. For instance, the analog output terminals from the ELX4xxx series are specially designed for potentially explosive atmospheres.

Distributed Clocks and XFC for speed and precision
Some analog EtherCAT Terminals are based on the XFC technology (eXtreme Fast Control), which enables rapid, deterministic reactions to be realized. This technology enables fast I/O response times, oversampling of the output signal and a temporally precise signal output to match a predetermined timestamp with a resolution of 1 ns. Highly accurate synchronization of all distributed clocks-capable devices in the network is attainable with a synchronization accuracy of << 1 µs with the EtherCAT distributed clocks, which are implemented in some of the EL4xxx and ES4xxx EtherCAT analog terminals.

Advantages:

  • robust output of analog signals with long-term availability
  • fine scalability of channel density and functional scope
  • extensive adjustment and diagnostic options in the terminals via the EtherCAT bus
  • distributed clocks for precise, time-based signal output and synchronization of the network
  • optionally calibrated terminals

Areas of application:

  • production machines
  • test systems
  • condition monitoring
  • energy generation systems
