The high-speed cutting (HSC) TwinCAT CNC option replaces the existing spline interpolation package and offers extended options. In conjunction with high-performance CNC functionality, milling of free form surfaces, e.g. in tool and mold construction, becomes even faster and more precise, resulting in significantly improved surface quality. The HSC package optimally resolves the conflict between high surface quality and contour accuracy and high processing speed. The user can influence the processing result by entering parameters or using high-order geometry functions (splines) directly in the CNC controller.
The TwinCAT CNC HSC pack offers the following options:
- velocity and acceleration control across blocks for optimum utilization of axis dynamics and therefore higher path velocities
- high surface quality through smoothed dynamics and associated reduction of vibrational excitation of the machine
- effective control of specified contour tolerances
- path programming via splines with programmable spline type (Akima spline, B-spline) for reduction of NC blocks for free-form surfaces
