The M3120 module permits up to four incremental encoders to be connected to the Lightbus system. A 24 bit counter with a quadrature decoder and a 24 bit latch for the zero pulse can be read, set or enabled for each transducer. The fibre optics connection of the Lightbus system allows the transducer values to be transmitted at high speed and without interference to a central device such as a PC, PLC or CNC. Up to 255 transducers can be interrogated over one fibre optic ring.
