Responsibilities
- diagnose and solve customer’s control systems issues using standard trouble-shooting tools and techniques
- perform troubleshooting and research toward the resolution of technology related problems for end users
- provide first-line support for Beckhoff Automation products
- provide end user training working one-on-one or group training, creating knowledgebase articles and updating guides
- prioritize incoming requests: escalate problems (when required or appropriate) to other technicians, next level support or other departments or function
- record, track, and document support requests, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made as well as actions taken through to final resolution
- learn on the job when faced with new challenges/questions
- participate in on-call support on rotation to triage and troubleshoot after hours service requests – seldom
- build and maintain an advanced level of knowledge of Beckhoff Automation products and related technologies
- other duties and special projects as assigned
- assist in the service department
- approximately 15% travel
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in engineering or related technical field from a college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience, Application: 2-5 years experience
- an understanding of automation hardware and software
- understanding of PLCs, motion control, distributed I/O, fieldbus systems (e.g. EtherCAT) and HMI technologies
- self-starter with a results driven personality
- strong analytical and reasoning skills
- ability to work in a high stress environment while maintaining professionalism
- excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present to customers and/or departmental meetings
Preferred education and experience
- previous technical training or Beckhoff Automation experience
- motion control experience
- Visual Studio and/or object-oriented programming in automation
- experience with the following is a plus:
- programming languages IEC 61131-3 (object oriented extension)
- C#, HTML5, JavaScript, TypeScript, C++ knowledge
- Windows, IT-networking and Microsoft Office applications
