Beckhoff remains fully functional and available

In the course of the massive COVID-19 outbreak at the Tönnies slaughterhouse in Rheda-Wiedenbrück near Verl, Germany, and the subsequent two-week lockdown in the Gütersloh district, Germany (June 24 - July 7), Beckhoff returned to strict safety measures. The automation technology manufacturer is now working in normal operation again. Production and deliveries were not affected by the renewed precautions and are running as usual.

"With the large-scale outbreak of the corona virus at Tönnies, we at Beckhoff have also returned to our safety measures that were in force during the first Germany-wide lockdown in March. Through this rapid reaction, we were able to help contain the spread of the virus in the Gütersloh district and protect our employees from possible infection," reports managing owner Hans Beckhoff. The measures included the separation of production in terms of space and time through two-shift operation and the mandatory home office for 80 percent of all employees with a computer workstation.

Relaxation after the lockdown

Since July 20, Beckhoff has relaxed these protective measures again due to the flattening of infection activity in the Gütersloh district. Production is once again running in a single-shift system in compliance with strict distance and hygiene rules. The employees with computer workstations work in fixed groups, alternately half in the home office and half in the company. Here too, strict hygiene measures, such as the obligation to wear masks and keep a safe distance, will apply until further notice to protect the workforce.

"Due to our rapid reaction, Beckhoff's production and delivery capacity were not restricted at any time. We can supply our customers without any restrictions and at the same time take care of new projects and developments. Our customers don’t need to fear any bottlenecks due to our foresighted warehousing and our strict safety measures, and receive all deliveries within the usual time frame," assures Hans Beckhoff.
