Beckhoff at PACK EXPO 2021

Experience Flying Motion technology and XPlanar live!

World-class performance and efficiency: packaging solutions with PC-based control

At PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2021, Beckhoff will demonstrate how to completely rethink packaging machine technology with PC-based automation and XPlanar. This Flying Motion technology offers 6 degrees of freedom for diverse processing, packaging and end-of-line applications, enabling non-linear and true lot-size-1 production. The eXtended Transport System (XTS) will also return with a stainless steel IP69K version and new Track Management capabilities that allow movers to transfer between tracks for additional processes, inspection or storage. With both of these mechatronic systems, engineers can minimize machine footprint and reduce raw material and energy consumption.

Further trailblazing innovations – from IoT to advanced motion control – await you at booth SL-6149 in the lower south hall.

Beckhoff is also excited to offer you complimentary registration! To register, simply click here and follow the registration prompts. During the registration process, enter 42A92 in the box labeled “comp code,” and the $30 registration fee will be waived. The Beckhoff team is looking forward to your visit!

XPlanar: secure an unbeatable competitive advantage with Flying Motion

As Industrie 4.0 takes hold, new adaptive manufacturing technologies are necessary to meet new demands in packaging. Increases in customization and lot-size-1 orders require flexibility and greater traceability. With automatic collision avoidance, path planning, anti-slosh, 360-degree rotation and more, the XPlanar system can enable true lot-size-1 production for packaging, pharma, micro-fulfillment and many other applications. XPlanar tiles can be covered with stainless steel, plastic or glass surfaces in clean-room or washdown environments.

XTS: maximum flexibility with IP69K and Track Management

Combining the advantages of linear and rotary motion, XTS transports products individually and dynamically. It enables flexible packaging down to lot size 1, performs instant changeovers via TwinCAT software and can reduce machine footprint up to 50% by eliminating outdated mechanical components. The IP69K XTS Hygienic perfectly suits washdown production environments in packaging, pharma, food, beverage and more. XTS Track Management further boosts the system’s flexibility with the software and hardware functionality to transfer movers between multiple XTS tracks, which enhances customization, quality inspection, automatic defect ejection and other critical tasks.

Packaging machine optimization through TwinCAT Vision

With this system-integrated machine vision platform, Beckhoff adds image processing capabilities directly into the standard packaging machine controller. High-precision measurement and precise visual inspection increase efficiency and quality in packaging and production. This integrated approach to automation also allows you to implement machine learning, advanced analytics, IoT and more in the same TwinCAT software.

Eliminate control cabinets with AMP8000 distributed servo drives

AMP8000 distributed servo drives combine the proven AM8000 servomotors with an integrated, highly efficient servo drive for mounting directly on packaging machines. Innovative power electronics with cold switch technology limit power losses to unprecedentedly low levels. At the same time, the mounting space required for motors and drives is reduced to an absolute minimum. The motor remains attachment-compatible and achieves almost the same performance as a comparable motor/servo drive combinations without integrated power electronics.

Ultra-compact Industrial PCs: high-end computing power in a space-saving design

The Industrial PC series that started with the C6015 has proven itself through its low space requirements, universal usability and flexible mounting. The C6017 offers additional interfaces and an integrated UPS. The C6030 and C6032 were developed for applications with maximum performance requirements. Apart from the well-known benefits, the PC features impressive computing power: the multi-core computer integrates Intel® Core™ i processors of the 6th and 7th generation and offers top performance with up to 3.6 GHz per core with 4 cores. Beckhoff has further developed the Industrial PC series with the new C6025 and C6027, which filled the remaining performance and interface gaps.
