The EL4172 analog output terminal outputs 10 V/20 mA standard signals with 16-bit resolution and up to 10,000 values per second – even with distributed clocks if necessary. Each channel can be parameterized individually using the control/TwinCAT and supports all common standard signals in the ±10 V and ±20 mA range, such as 4...20 mA. The current outputs can drive high load resistances and are equipped with 24 V/0 V contacts to supply actuators. With an extended output range of ±107%, unconventional setpoints can also be output – for error reporting purposes, as an example.
Additional functions make the EL4172 a versatile solution for demanding analog tasks. It offers electrically isolated outputs that can control inputs without a ground reference. Each channel can be switched off separately with high resistance. Voltage and current monitoring enable the U/I values that are actually flowing to be fed back as process data, allowing real-time diagnosis of the load and wiring (to identify short circuits, for example). It supports 4-wire operation (Kelvin method), which compensates for any voltage drops across the supply lines during voltage mode. Diagnostics are also integrated for the power contact voltage.
