AMP8000 | Distributed servo drives

The AMP8000 idea: Integrated servo drive, minimized footprint

With the AMP8000 distributed servo drive system, the servo drive is relocated directly from the control cabinet to the machine. In interaction with the components for power supply (AMP8600), distribution (AMP8800) and coupling (AX883x) to a conventional servo drive group, the AMP8000 distributed servo drive offers a compact and flexible solution for modular machines.

The AMP8000 distributed servo drive consists of a combination of the proven AM8000 servomotors with a highly efficient servo drive. Innovative power electronics with cold switch technology limit power losses to unprecedentedly low levels. At the same time, the mounting space required for the electronics is reduced to an absolute minimum. The motor retains its original contour; it remains attachment-compatible and achieves almost the same performance data as a comparable motor/servo drive combination without attached power electronics. This helps the user with the design of his drive technology and he retains the full flexibility to use IP20 or IP65 solutions as required.

The integrated safe single-turn or multi-turn encoders enable the AMP8000 to be used in applications where functional safety is required. In addition, a mechanical limit switch can be dispensed with in most cases. The AMP8000 is connected with an EtherCAT P cable; no additional connections are required for operation.

It is important for design engineers that they can fully integrate the drive technology into the machine design with the help of the AMP8000 system. Even different servo systems can be connected to each other to enable an energetically meaningful energy exchange.

Highlights

  • reduction of the space requirement in the control cabinet through integration of the servo drive into the motor
  • no change of the machine design is required: mechanical compatibility of flange and shaft to AM8000
  • minimal reduction of motor power data through highly efficient and thermally insulated power electronics
  • STO / SS1 safety function in series, optional TwinSAFE safe Motion with extensive safety functions
