Fast, flexible and precise

The EtherCAT technology has been specially optimized for speed, flexibility and precision. Every sensor, every I/O device and every embedded controller is supposed to be able to integrate an EtherCAT connection at a low cost. Carrying out conformity tests ensures the interoperability and compatibility of EtherCAT devices from different manufacturers. The correct behavior of a device is checked so that errors in the implementation process can already be detected and rectified during the development stage. Beckhoff offers hardware and software components for developing EtherCAT devices (master and slave implementation). This is backed up by EtherCAT developer training courses.

EtherCAT Test Centers (ETCs)

Services
Beckhoff Automation is the operator of official EtherCAT Test Centers (ETCs) in Germany and in the USA. The ETCs carry out the official EtherCAT Conformance Test for EtherCAT slave devices in accordance with the specifications set out by the EtherCAT Technology Group (ETG). Over and above this, the ETCs provide support when it comes to preparing tests and give qualified feedback.

Request
If you would like to request an EtherCAT conformance test, please contact the ETG. A request form and other information regarding conformity are provided on the ETG website in the “Conformity” section. Select the preferred ETC when filling out the form. The ETG will forward your request to the ETC. You will then automatically receive a quotation from us without delay.

Further information
The ETG provides further information and frequently asked questions about conformance tests in the EtherCAT Conformance Guide.

Prices
You can get price information directly from the relevant ETC in Nuremberg (Germany) or Savage, MN (USA).

Interoperability test and handing over devices
The interoperability test is done in a heterogeneous network made up of different EtherCAT devices. The ETCs therefore ask all providers to provide their devices free of charge after the test so that they can stay in the interoperability network. In return the ETCs give the provider (and only the provider) qualified feedback if problems should occur. In this way the provider avoids costly follow-up support at the customer on site. The ETG provides further information about device donations in the device donation document.

Conformance Test Tool (CTT)
The ETC checks with the current version of the conformance test according to the specifications set out by the ETG.
